    Our Canoes...

Hawaiian Racers/Malia’s 
  • Iolani- our first canoe, name means Hawaiian hawk or heavenly Creator 
  • Iwalani- one of our first canoes, a Force Five by Walter Guild, means heavenly bird 

Mirages 
  • Kupaianaha- donated by PW, means Wonderful, strange, surprising, amazing, extraordinary 
  • Kahuhipa- donated by PW, means shepherd 

Bradley Strikers- made by Sonny Bradley 
  • Aloha- Love 
  • Aka Hai- Formerly the Kukilakila purchased from Charlie and Kathy Thurston. Means to be kind. Renamed in honor of Aka Hemmings who started Pure Light 
  • Mamala- old name of Honolulu Harbor, also means stroke (like a paddle or Warclub) purchased from Outrigger 
  • Hoe A Mau- donated by PW. Means to paddle steady, constant, unceasing, to persevere 
  • Niuhi- on loan from Marcia Kaleikau, means man eating shark 

Bradley Lightning’s­ the newest by Sonny Bradley 
  • Kealaula- means the streak of light as seen before the rising or setting sun 
  • Makoa- purchased from Ed and Linda Martin, means fearless or courageous 

Koa 
  • Kai Elua- log cut down in Big Island from the Greenwell Estate in 1957, shaped by Antone Grace, Frank Henriques and Wally Froiseth. Sold to Kaneohe CC in 2000, then to Waikiki Surf in ‘03. Was modified in 2003 to meet racing specs, sanctioned in ‘05 for HCRA and OHRCA. Means “sea between two oceans”. New Hope purchased the canoe from Waikiki Surf Club.
